By His Grace Barrel Racing began this season, as a result of God's grace to our family.

On August 13, 2005, Steve was involved in a farm tractor accident, that left him with a broken pelvis, two severed arteries and two severed veins.  Steve lost 15 pints of blood and had 3 operations in 5 days.  He was as close to death, as anyone could have been.  While lying on the ground, after Tim drove the tractor off of him, Steve prayed that God would spare his life.  God answered that prayer and, immediately, although in sever pain, Steve felt at ease and knew everything would be all right.  The next several days were critical and after 2 weeks in the hospital, Steve was moved to a rehab facility, where he spent the next 13 days exercising and recovering.

Returning home in a wheelchair the doctor told him would be required 4 to 6 months, Steve began the road to riding recovery.  In 2 months he was out of the wheelchair, walking with the help of a walker.  One month later, the walker was discarded and a cane replace it.  By Christmas, the cane was discarded and Steve was able to reach his goal of riding Tex on New Years Day, 2006, just 4 months and 19 days after the near-death accident.

Steve's story is certainly longer than space here will allow.  His testimony of God's Grace and the gifts of all the friends, family and strangers is a story he is more than willing to share with anyone, who will listen.  If fact, he has shared his testimony with others from Georgia to California, Montana, Iowa, Connecticut and all points in between.

With God's healing hand, Steve is once again competing in the NBHA Senior Division.  Nine sponsors have generously given support for Steve to compete, this year.  To see the current District 04 Standings go to www.ganbha.us  and click on the Districts tab, then click on District 04

CONGRATULATIONS!
The final results for the 2007 NBHA Georgia District 04 results are in and Steve is the Senior Division 4D Champion.  This means that he qualified for the 2008 NBHA World Championships, held in Augusta, GA, next year.  While this may not mean alot to all the "real" barrel racers of the world, it means the world to Steve.  Once again, by the grace of God, and financial backing of his sponsors, Steve was able to attain the two goals he set in his "comeback" year.

The 2008 Barrel Season begins March 1st, with a show at the Clemmons Farm in Crawfordville, GA.
